More than five decades in civil litigation, beginning with insurance defense and extending through a career representing injured individuals, families, businesses, and institutional clients.

The Hartford Insurance Company

David S. Wieder began his legal career as in-house counsel for The Hartford Insurance Company in New York, representing insureds and working closely with claims professionals. The experience provided an early understanding of how insurers evaluate claims, assess litigation risk, set strategy, and make settlement decisions.

Personal injury and medical malpractice

After returning to Florida, he built a practice representing injured individuals and families in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and other civil tort matters, recovering millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements.

Aviation litigation

For seventeen years, he represented Lufthansa in aviation litigation, handling matters involving technical, factual, regulatory, and international considerations.

Federal and appellate practice

His practice has included state and federal trial work, motion practice, complex civil litigation, and appeals.

Professional and civic service

His leadership has included service as chair of an Eleventh Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, chair of the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board, service on the Miami Beach Planning Board, and Treasurer of the American Jewish Committee.
